First off, I didn't know there was such a thing and just wanted to confirm if it was true. So the simple fact I upgraded means I have zero internet. I've tried everything. New Cat5e cable, isolating the router by wiring directly to the cable box, updating my BIOS/motherboard, resetting my cable/router multiple times, restarting PC multiple times, reseating the NIC card, updating my NIC card's drivers, all sorts of Network Connection tweaks, pinging Google, dos ipconfig / tricks, nothing. The Internet works on all PC's on the network except my Win 7. Literally the card doesn't do anything. Hardware recognition software, like Everest, recognizes it in the system and the NIC card's light shows it is powered on, yet it fails to get picked up by my Win 7.

That hardware compatibility website is based on user-reported results, which are prone to error. I've seen several peripherals that were erroneously reported as 'compatible' as well as 'incompatible' devices that work just fine. You may be able to manually install the driver for XP 64-bit, if one exists. I've seen several older network controllers that worked in Vista and Win7 using the Windows XP drivers, after pointing Windows to the INF files and having it search for the best driver. The 3C905 is at least 12 years old, BTW.
